The Mancos Valley continues its 140-year tradition as a
center of ranching at the edge of the San Juan Mountains and
National Forest. The first white men to discover the Mesa
Verde ruins rode there from their Mancos Valley ranch in
search of stray cattle. Today this valley provides a peaceful
surrounding for a town that retains the character of the Old
West.
